Giacomo Guarnieri

Giacomo is a physicist from Fiorenzuola d’Arda, Italy. He obtained his B.Sci and M. Sci degrees in Physics at the University of Milan with maximum grades in 2010 and 2013 respectively, where he then also won a Ph.D. fellowship under the supervision of Prof. Bassano Vacchini. During his Ph.D., from 01/2014 to 01/2017, he focused on open quantum systems, quantum thermodynamics and non-Markovianity. From April 2017 Giacomo started his first PostDoc position at Palacky University Olomouc, Czech Republic, in the group of Prof. Radim Filip, where he stayed until end of June 2018. From July 2018 until November 2020 he joined the QuSys group as Research Fellow in Trinity College Dublin. During this experience, he acquired a more rounded experience in Quantum and stochastic Thermodynamics, Information theory and metrology and many-body physics, specializing in particular in the emerging field of Thermodynamics of Precision. From November 2020 he started his third PostDoc position at Freie Universität Berlin, in the group of Prof. Jens Eisert, within the FQXI project “Fueling quantum field machines with information”.
